You wait for a Number 59 bus and two come along at once… My novel ‘2020’ was published by Saraband some 6 weeks ago, and was almost featured at once on Radio 4s Front Row. It was great to get such coverage, and the novel was also widely reviewed. Attention has died somewhat now, but I still hope for further interviews and reviews. All of this was difficult because it rather put my new sequence of poems from Birlinn in the shade. But ‘Deirdre of the Sorrows’ is important in its own right, and it will perhaps prove akin to the race between tortoise and hare. I’m taking part in the Wigtown Book Festival on 1st October – with both books, I hope. My volume of selected short stories, ‘Winter Tales’, is on the horizon from SPCK.
